Abstract
The main objective of the study is to analyze the hydraulic behavior of the Sahuanay canal, located in the Tamburco district, Abancay, in order to evaluate its capacity for debris flow evacuation. Methodology: inductive-deductive method, applied type, descriptive scope, non-experimental design. Hydraulic analysis using computational modeling tools and field measurements. Topographic, hydrological and geological data were collected. Then, a hydraulic model was built to simulate debris flow in Sahuanay channel. Simulation tests were carried out to evaluate the debris transport capacity of the channel and the expected results during extreme events were evaluated. Results: The results indicate that the Sahuanay channel presents limitations in its capacity to evacuate debris flow during high intensity events. Conclusions: The Sahuanay channel presents a maximum discharge of 5.88 meters, with a velocity of 7.33 m/s, volumetric concentration 51%, yield stress 42.77 pascals and a Viscosity 431.04 Pa *s, these data indicate the behavior of the channel and that it is designed to face extreme hydraulic conditions
